Predator: Badlands has officially become a streaming success, dominating worldwide ahead of its release on Disney+. The story of Predator: Badlands follows Dek, an outcast Yautja trying to prove himself to his family by hunting something that's said cannot be killed. The film was a box office success, earning $184.5 million against a $105 million budget worldwide.

Now, Predator: Badlands' popularity has followed it onto VOD, according to numbers reported by FlixPatrol. As of January 13, 2026, the movie is the Number 1 movie on multiple on-demand platforms, including Amazon, Apple TV and Vudu. The film is Number 1 in various countries as well, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, and Canada.

Reviews for Predator: Badlands have praised the film for its unique take on the franchise through its action-packed, coming-of-age approach. As of writing, the film holds a Certified Fresh 86% from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, and a Verified Hot 95% from audiences. Its box office performance also makes it the highest-grossing movie in the franchise's history.

As of writing, there's been no confirmation as to when Predator: Badlands will be released on Disney+. The movie became available to rent and buy digitally on January 6, meaning there will likely be a decent gap in time before it finally becomes available on a streaming service. This means its VOD domination will likely continue for some time to come.

The film is the third Predator movie directed by Dan Trachtenberg, who also directed 2022's Prey and 2025's Predator: Killer of Killers. Both movies were also critical successes, while also becoming major streaming hits for Hulu upon their release to the platform. These success stories further bolster Predator: Badlands and its ongoing interest following its home release.

Trachtenberg has plans for more movies in the Predator franchise as well, including a standalone idea that will happen if Disney deems his latest endeavor a success. It's also possible a Prey 2 could transpire, though there's been no confirmation of its development following 2023 talks with Amber Midthunder to return to her role as Naru.

With the series regaining its popularity over the course of its last few releases, Predator: Badlands' larger success is an unsurprising development. Given the movie is being paid for by those buying and renting it, the monetary success is a good sign for how the franchise's future could play out, and what it means for Trachtenberg's larger Predator plans.
