Evan Mullicane is the senior editor and founder of Screen Rant's anime section. Having started as a writer for the Comics Team at the beginning of the Pandemic, Evan was swiftly promoted from writer to editor, and then from editor to lead of Screen Rant's newly established anime vertical.
Throughout his time with Screen Rant, Evan has made a handful of appearances at conventions such as Anime Expo and San Diego Comic-Con, and has interviewed some of the biggest names in Anime and Comics history.
In addition to editing anime and manga articles for Screen Rant, Evan is also a science fiction and fantasy author. In 2018 and 2019, his short story "The Demon's Mother" won honorable mentions from the Writers of the Future contest.

The anime industry had a banner year in 2025. With unparalleled successes like Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle and Solo Leveling season 2, it seemed like the once niche interest was inescapable. Unfortunately, not every anticipated release earned such thunderous applause.
Though the quality of anime released in 2025 was high, some series and movies just couldn't live up to the tremendous expectations put on them. Sometimes this is a case of fans getting their hopes up too high, but other times, an anime's lack of quality is actually shocking.
Anime fans on IMDB have officially crowned the year's worst anime, and to no one's surprise, it's One-Punch Man season 3.
One-Punch Man Is Officially 2025's Worst-Rated Anime, and It's Not Close
According to IMDB's fan rating system, One-Punch Man season 3's episodes have an average rating of 3.7 out of 10. While a few episodes, such as episode #8 managed to stay above water with a 6.4, others got a brutal response from IMDB users. The lowest point is clearly episode #6, which fans gave an average rating of 1.5.

While all of that is pretty bad on its face, it's even worse in the context of the rest of the year. According to an Instagram post by ddoseofanime, One-Punch Man had the top 9 worst-rated anime episodes of 2025 on IMDB. With You, Our Love Will Make It Through episode #11 is the only other anime of 2025 to make it into the year's bottom 10 worst-rated episodes.
Why One-Punch Man Is the Worst-Rated Anime of 2025
One-Punch Man season 3's troubles have been well-documented, and didn't exactly come as a surprise to many fans who had already been disappointed by season 2.
Chief among fan complaints was the poor animation and changes to the source material. One-Punch Man season 3, episode #10 in particular, censored an iconic scene, leading to a great deal of fan backlash.
One-Punch Man season 3 even has a worse rating than Dragonball Evolution on IMDB, which is saying something considering that film is one of the most infamous anime-related disasters in history.
After the backlash, One-Punch Man season 3 is on break. Fans can only hope that when it returns, it will have fixed some of the major issues that have been plaguing the series.
