Nintendo Switch Quietly Shutting Down A Key App For Good

The Nintendo Switch has long been a portable powerhouse offering not just gaming, but entertainment on the go as well. As reported by Nintendolife, as of next month, support for the Hulu streaming app on Nintendo will no longer be available, and the app will disappear from the eShop shortly. Streaming apps seem to be a dime a dozen these days, but still, having things taken away from us never feels nice.

In Hulu's case though, this is more of an integration, than a full-blown deletion of content. Disney bought out a controlling share in Hulu back in June 2025 and has since been open about adding Hulu's content to the already gigantic library of content on Disney+ while also quietly shutting down Hulu for good.

Nintendo Is Saying Goodbye To The Hulu App

I mean, did anyone ever use it?

As of February 5, 2026, you will no longer have the ability to download the Hulu app from the Nintendo eShop and support for it will also cease. I guess if you do have a Hulu subscription, then now is the time to watch your favorite shows before they jump ship to the house of mouse. The Nintendo eShop has often been a buggy mess with major updates needed, but still, it's sad to see apps going.

Hulu has some of the best movies and amazing TV series out there. Hopefully, the content merger with Disney+ will see all content switching over and nothing slips through the cracks, although typically Disney+ curate what they want to have in their library. A prime example is when they purged their very own creation, the TV series Willow, from their platform back in May 2023. A move which made Willow completely unavailable to stream anywhere.

You've Got Until February 5

Say your goodbyes, assuming you care

February 5 is not very far away. The clock is very much ticking at this point. Without knowing what will make it through to Disney+, now is the time to binge your favorite Hulu content in case it disappears in February. Although probably not the most popular app on the Nintendo eShop, it's still a sting in the tail for any Hulu subscribers.

The Nintendo eShop has a long history, so it's always disappointing to see apps or features winding down. If you're feeling nostalgic for the past, you can always use the Nintendo Store App to look back at over a decade of your play and app history, going back as far as the launch of the eShop on the 3DS in June 2011. Feel old yet? Whether remembering the old times or looking forward, let's hope the Nintendo eShop continues to grow and improve.
