On Sunday, Nikki Glaser will host the Golden Globes for the second time but she is already hoping for a callback.
Glaser, who made her debut last year, will host the 83rd Golden Globe Awards at the Beverly Hilton. It is airing on CBS and Paramount+ and produced by Dick Clark Productions, which is owned by Deadline owner PMC.
Speaking on Jimmy Kimmel Live! ahead of the show, Glaser revealed that she already wants to return, again.
“The good news is that the stakes are high but if I kill it again, I know the only thing this leads to is hosting it again. That’s what’s at stake and I want to but it’s going to be fun. I feel like I’ve run the set so many times and if it doesn’t work in the room, they’re wrong because it’s been working. I feel confident,” she said.
This comes after Deadline revealed last year that Glaser had signed a three-year deal to host the event.
Glaser talked to Oscars host Kimmel about this year’s event and revealed a joke that she has already scrapped. “Here’s a joke I cut that I can do that didn’t work but is suitable. Elle Fanning in French is ‘She Fanning’, she said.
Glaser has been running her monologue around the comedy clubs of LA, which has its pros and cons.
“I’ve been running it around town. It’s a different audience. You can get pretty confident about material in those rooms because they are out for blood and they want you to go hard,” she said. “The big problem is that people haven’t seen stuff. It’s a little harder this year. I don’t have movies like Nightbitch this time, you had some funny movies last time.”
The FBoy Island star and her team will continue writing right up to the moment the show airs. “We write up until the last second. I’m always trying to have every joke be as tight as possible. I always leave it open, maybe someone’s wearing something insane on the red carpet, you want to make it as topical as possible,” she added.
This year, she joked that people up for awards were those on her bedroom wall as a kid: Leonardo DiCaprio, George Clooney and Hans Zimmer. “I was a weird kid,” she smirked. “It was nice that I got to watch the Critics Choice Awards and see if [DiCaprio] is in the mood to laugh about himself. He did. He seems like he’s got a good sense of humor about himself. I come in peace. I’m glad I really loved his performance in One Battle After Another, I’ll lay that on thick before I go in for the kill.”
