The arrival of a free new title to the Xbox Game Pass catalog represents a perfect addition to play before February and the release of its sequel. There are several new games being added to the subscription service this year, and the first batch has already been announced. For example, Star Wars Outlaws joins Xbox Game Pass on January 13, allowing members to play the underrated open-world adventure game without extra costs.

This month has also already seen several additions to the catalog, like Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine – Master Crafted Edition, Rematch, Atomfall, and Lost in Random: The Eternal Die. The original Final Fantasy also joined Xbox Game Pass this month in its Pixel Remaster version, allowing members to check out where Square Enix’s popular RPG series started. There is, however, one title that will be an impressive addition to the catalog later this month.

Resident Evil Village Arrives On Xbox Game Pass

The Game Becomes Available For Consoles, PC, & Cloud

On January 20, Resident Evil Village will join the Xbox Game Pass catalog as part of the Xbox Game Pass January 2026 additions. The popular survival horror title created by Capcom will be made available for Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PC, and cloud via the subscription service. According to the official announcement, the game will be made available for members of the Game Pass Ultimate, Game Pass Premium, and PC Game Pass tiers.

As a result, members of the Essential tier will be left out of the benefit, unless they upgrade their subscription plan to any of the aforementioned ones. After its addition, Resident Evil Village should stay in the catalog for a number of months, if not a year, before it is removed, as this is the usual behavior of AAA titles added to Xbox Game Pass.

Play Village Before The Release Of Resident Evil Requiem

Resident Evil 9 Releases In Late February

Even though you may have up to a year to play the game after its arrival in the catalog, it would be best to play Resident Evil Village via Xbox Game Pass as soon as it is added. This is because the release of Resident Evil Requiem, its sequel, will occur during the following month, February. Although the new game will tell a new story with a focus on Grace and Leon, it is still a mainline entry in the series.

There are still a lot of doubts about how the next game will present itself, such as how it connects to the previous titles, and if Resident Evil Requiem is an open-world game or not. Even so, the story of this post-apocalyptic global society continues to progress, and the new tale spun in the ninth core game will certainly make links to other games.

As such, if you haven’t played it before or want a refresher, January 20 will be the perfect time to start playing Resident Evil Village, which will give you a little over a month of time before the release of Requiem. This is one of the main new additions to Xbox Game Pass in January, so be sure to check it out.
