Xbox Game Pass is dividing its userbase thanks to the latest release that's come out on its service. The latest free title to come to Game Pass is an open-world RPG, and people can't seem to decide if it's an excellent game, absolutely horrible, or just totally mid. A free game is a free game, though, right? Some people don't seem to think so.
Over on X, Klobrille posted the seemingly simple announcement,"Star Wars Outlaws is now available with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate." This led to various people in the comments debating the quality of the game. As you might expect, comments ranged from praise to vicious criticism, with a hefty bit of indifference thrown in for good measure.
Players Torn On Star Wars Outlaws Game Pass Release
Now that Star Wars Outlaws is on Game Pass Ultimate, a number of people are trying it out for the first time, but a large portion of Star Wars fans have already played it. That doesn't mean everyone can agree on whether the game is good or not. "Star War Jedi: Survivor is also available with Game Pass Ultimate, and it's an infinitely better game," pointed out one person on X. "Horrible game," wrote another user. "It's just [a] bunch of mini games on Unlocking doors."
But for every comment that criticized the game, there were plenty of people coming to its defense. "Don’t listen to all the hate people. It’s a decent game," wrote one user on X. "Great game," reads another comment. "Really good star wars game after all the updates!" exclaimed another user on X.
Still, others were indifferent to Star Wars Outlaws as a whole. "If i want this mid game I'll go buy it for $30," reads one scathing comment. Another post simply reads, "Meh."
Star Wars Outlaws Is Flawed But Fun
Screenshot by Lara JacksonI'm inclined to agree with the person who called Star Wars Outlaws "decent." Yes, I got tired of sneaking around during stealth missions and what felt like bloated busy work, and, yes, a more traditional RPG focused on smugglers would've arguably been better. But I still had a lot of fun with Outlaws when it launched, and the game looks gorgeous.
If you already subscribe to Game Pass Ultimate, then you have nothing to lose by checking it out. I'd recommend giving it a shot and seeing what Star Wars Outlaws has to offer for yourself. It's an imperfect game for sure, but it's still pretty fun — and if you have the Xbox Game Pass sub anyway, then you can't beat the price.
