Image via NetflixNetflix has some promising news about one of its underrated sci-fi series, and it's been a long time coming! From the Game of Thrones creators, it's been almost two years since 3 Body Problem was renewed for a second and third season, both of which have since gone into production with no premiere update revealed. That's about to change as we can confirm that Season 2 of the science fantasy now has a release window, finally giving fans something to look forward to.
As newly confirmed, 3 Body Problem is scheduled for release this year. This is based on a new Netflix press release about the slate of TV shows and movies coming in 2026, with the fantasy drama's sophomore season being listed as "Coming Soon" with a release date window of "On Netflix 2026."GOT's David Benioff and D.B. Weiss created 3 Body Problem alongside Alexander Woo, with the trio also serving as executive producers. All eight episodes of the first season were released on Netflix on March 21, 2024, and two months later, in May, a double renewal was announced.
Seasons 2 and 3 of 3 Body Problem are filming back-to-back, starting last July and reportedly continuing through August 2, 2027, with a break planned in between. Most parts of the new seasons are being filmed in Budapest, Hungary, unlike England, where Season 1 was primarily shot. The shift, as previously reported, indicated the need to reduce the budget for the installments, as stated in the Hungary Tax Credits document. The document also suggested that 3 Body Problem Seasons 2 and 3 will be eleven episodes in total, though this is yet to be confirmed.
