Netflix has another global hit with a new series finding success on the popular streaming platform. From the many crime thriller shows on Netflix over the last couple of years, 2026 is already bringing them another win in the genre.
Following its release on January 1 on Netflix, Run Away has become a worldwide streaming sensation, currently trending at #1 in multiple countries. According to FlixPatrol, the crime drama is currently holding the top spot for the streaming service in Australia, Austria, Bahrain, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Colombia, Costa Rica, Croatia, Cyprus, and the Czech Republic.
However, Run Away is also #1 in Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Guadeloupe, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Jordan, Kenya, Latvia, Lebanon, Lithuania, Luxembourg, and Malta. The Netflix series is also trending as #1 in Martinique, Mauritius, Morocco, Netherlands, New Caledonia, New Zealand, Nigeria, Norway, Oman, Panama, Paraguay, Poland, Portugal, Qatar, and Romania.
Last but not least, following the Run Away ending, the Netflix show is also #1 in Ukraine, England, Serbia, Venezuela, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Africa, Spain, Sri Lanka, Switzerland, the United Arab Emirates, Trinidad and Tobago. For Netflix subscribers in the United States, Run Away is trending at #1.
Despite its smashing success, the chances of Run Away season 2 are unlikely. Netflix has labeled the show as a limited series, based on Harlan Coben's novel of the same name.
On Rotten Tomatoes, critics and audience members have very different opinions. At the time of this story's publication, the show has an 82% score, while having a 43% rating on the Popcornmeter.
Danny Brocklehurst developed Run Away, with James Nesbitt, Ellie de Lange, Ruth Jones, Minnie Driver, Alfred Enoch, Amy Gledhill, Lucian Msamati, and Jon Pointing rounding out the cast. Nimer Rashed directed episodes 1-3 and 7-8 while Isher Sahota helmed episodes 4–6.
