Netflix’s Breakout Fantasy Anime Finally Gets a Positive Season 2 Update

6 hours ago 1

After nearly two years of silence, Delicious in Dungeon fans finally have reason to relax. Netflix has confirmed that the previously announced second season of the breakout fantasy anime is officially in active production. The update came directly from the series’ official X account, which reassured viewers that work is underway while asking for a little more patience before further announcements. While there’s still no release window, the confirmation alone marks the strongest sign yet that the series is moving forward after a long post-season gap.

The update lands on the back of an exceptionally well-received first season. Adapted from Ryoko Kui’s beloved manga and animated by Studio Trigger, Delicious in Dungeon carved out a rare niche by blending classic dungeon-crawling stakes with meticulous, almost cozy, culinary world-building. The 24-episode debut expanded the series’ reach far beyond its manga readership, earning near-universal praise from critics and audiences alike.

Although Season 2 remains undated, the franchise shows no signs of cooling off. Alongside the anime’s continued momentum, the Delicious in Dungeon universe is expanding into other formats, including a localized board game set for release in 2026. For now, Netflix’s confirmation serves as a welcome reminder that the series hasn’t been forgotten and that Laios and his unconventional party will eventually return to the kitchen and the dungeon alike.

What Happened Back in October 2025 With ‘Delicious in Dungeon’

Back in October 2025, Delicious in Dungeon briefly made headlines, but not for the reason many fans were hoping for. Crunchyroll announced that the series would be added to its platform, only for it to be revealed that the move applied exclusively to the manga, not the anime itself.

The animated adaptation remained locked as a Netflix exclusive, and created early confusion among fans who expected a wider streaming rollout. What Crunchyroll actually introduced was its new Crunchyroll Manga service, which gave North American subscribers access to Ryoko Kui’s original source material alongside other major titles. While the update didn’t change the anime’s availability, it did give viewers a legal way to continue the story beyond Season 1’s ending.

At the time, Season 2 had already been confirmed, but the news of active production moves us one step closer. Delicious in Dungeon is available to stream on Netflix. Stay tuned to Collider for more updates.
