Big Rig, a road raging 18-wheeler Mack truck demon-slayer, is a comic book co-written by Post Malone and Adrian Wassel that debuted in July 2025. It steamrolled over the competition and was effectively a runaway success; and now, it is getting even more of an epic boost with director Michael Bay developing the story into an adapted feature film via his production company, Platinum Dunes.
The popular comic book was the music superstar's first venture into comics. Malone pitched it out to publisher Vault Comics and co-founder/ editor-in-chief Adrian Wassel (who has previously worked on titles such as Iron Man and Alien Bounty Hunter). He noted that in isolation (without Malone's fame attached to it) the story was a standout, wholly unique, and one that needed to be shared with the world.
From pages and panels to the silver screen
Post Malone gets the Michael Bay treatment
Described as Mad Max Fury Road meets Evil Dead, our hero named 'Trucker' and once a former priest, has suddenly been bestowed this blessed 'hell-obliterator' of a vehicle. Set in Medieval Europe in the midst of a post-apocalyptic demon-infestation, Trucker finds himself combating the underlings of the godless with this massive mega truck that's armed to the teeth with modern machine guns and weaponry. His motley crew, who are also aiding him on his quest for safety and sanctuary, are a witch named Edda — a spunky, whip-smart girl seeking revenge against Lucifer herself (yes, she's female — and a bodacious mistress of the damned); and Batu, a fierce warrior who acts as Edda's guardian and protector.
With the high-octane tone of this comic, naturally — panels and pages were merely the beginning of Malone and Wassel's journey. The genesis of the connection between all parties was made through F.J. DeSanto (head of TV/film at Vault Comics) — and the rest, as they say, is history. "I'm beyond excited that Michael Bay is taking Big Rig to the big screen. After all, he knows a thing or two about making massively successful movies with a badass truck as a main character," adds Wassel in an exclusive message to ScreenRant. He's referring to Bay's work on action films such as Bad Boys, Transformers, Armageddon, and 6 Underground, to name a few.
One bold move transforms a post-apocalyptic comic into an adrenaline-high of a cinematic experience
Wassel adds that the film is currently in pre-production. Although the studio will coordinate with Vault Comics so that they can provide updates to doting fans who are in excited anticipation of watching this. In the interim, the 'hell-on-wheels' saga continues as Post and Adrian have announced that Big Rig 2: Damned, issue #1 (the second arc) is slated to go on sale in August 2026.
