Meghan Markle’s lifestyle brand, As Ever, has drawn a lot of criticism, especially after a temporary glitch on its website exposed the truth behind the performance of its products.
The Daily Mail reported that users found a way to view how many units of each item were available for purchase on As Ever's website and posted about it on Reddit on January 6, 2026. Several people speculated that the high numbers of available products from the Suits actor's brand, which launched in 2025, were not selling as well as they appeared to be.
According to these Reddit posts, people claimed that they were able to view As Ever's inventory by adding a ton of products to their shopping carts. This allegedly tricked the site into revealing the available amount.
However, sources familiar with the business explained to People that those online theories overlook key details and are out of context. They claimed that the reason why As Ever has so many of the items in stock is that there was a high demand for these products, and they were worried about selling out. They even alleged that the items were "flying literally off the shelf." The insiders also said that it had to do with the brand preparing to expand globally.
While it’s normal for a business not to talk about sales data, I think it’s fair to say that the glitch that led to this data being revealed points to a business that isn’t just successful — it’s flying, literally off the shelf.
Although the technical issue has since been fixed, these numbers have already been made public. The lifestyle line has roughly 220,000 jars of jam, 30,000 jars of honey, 90,000 candles, 80,000 tins of flower sprinkles and about 70,000 bottles of wine.
Markle had previously claimed that As Ever received an order totaling one million units for a single product. The Duchess of Sussex also spoke about how quickly the brand grew. It allegedly went from producing small batches to placing the aforementioned million-unit order within just a few months of operations.
She also explained that while fast sellouts are a positive sign for a new business, inventory disappearing rapidly isn't great for business. As a result, the company significantly increased production to ensure that they're less likely to run out of items. However, Markle claimed that she still sold out many products despite upping her inventory.
