Macaulay Culkin jokes it's 'weird' to see him 'outside the holiday season' in Golden Globes 2026 comeback with fiancée Brenda Song

Macaulay Culkin made reference to the film that made him an household name, Home Alone, at Sunday's Golden Globes.

Culkin received a hearty round of applause at the Beverly Hilton as he emerged to the 1996 Mark Morrison song Return of the Mack, to present the honors for Best Screenplay, Motion Picture.

'Thank you,' the lifelong actor told the audience. 'I know it's weird to see me outside the holiday season - shockingly, I do exist all year round.'

Culkin then announced the winner of the category, One Battle After Another's Paul Thomas Anderson.

Culkin previously attended the award show on January 19, 1991, as he was nominated in the category for Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture - Comedy or Musical.

Macaulay Culkin, 45, made reference to the film that made him an household name, Home Alone, at Sunday's Golden Globes.

He was nominated at the time against Johnny Depp (Edward Scissorhands), Richard Gere (Pretty Woman), the late Patrick Swayze (Ghost) and eventual winner Gérard Depardieu (Green Card).

The actor last week posted to Instagram that he would be a presenter on Sunday, with the caption 'Cya Sunday.'

At the swanky event, Culkin wore a black tuxedo with a velvet coat, while Song was clad in a black leather top and matching gown, with her locks down and parted.

Culkin's outing at the show appeared to be well received by viewers, who took to X with supportive sentiments.

'I absolutely love that they got him to present,' said one user. 'It’s time for him to get work as an adult.

'I know he’s in fallout. It’s nice to see him apart of the scene again.'

One fan said in reference to the Home Alone films: 'It would have been hilarious if someone would have yelled out "KEVIN!!!"'

Macaulay, the older brother of Oscar-winning actor Kieran Culkin, has been romantically involved with Song since 2017, as they crossed paths making the film Changeland.

The duo became engaged in 2022 and are parents to sons Dakota, four, and Carson, who they welcomed in 2023

Culkin hailed Song, 37, (who played hotel heiress London Tipton on Disney's The Suite Life of Zack & Cody) as he celebrated his 45th birthday last August.

'Couldn't appreciate it if I didn't have it,' he said, alongside a video of his fiancée singing I'll Never Break Your Heart by the Backstreet Boys to him.

Culkin, who was also in 1990s films such as The Good Son and My Girl, added that 'it's all worth it.'

'I’d like to thank Brenda - you are absolutely everything,' Culkin said as he accepted the coveted honors.

He added: 'You’re the only person happier for me today than I am. You’re not only the best woman I’ve ever known, you’re the best person I’ve ever known.

'You’ve given me just all my purpose. You’ve given me family.'

Prior to his romance with Song, Culkin was involved in relationships with actress Rachel Miner from 1998-2002 and actress Mila Kunis from 2003-2012.

Song was previously linked to Miley Cyrus' brother Trace Cyrus, who she dated on-and-off from 2010 to 2017; and to singer Joe Jonas, who she was seen out with in 2009.
