With Nintendo keeping the Switch alive thanks to its successor console, there's been an even greater demand for entries from iconic franchises like The Legend of Zelda to get their time to shine on the new hardware. Even if more games than ever are available on the Switch 2 thanks to Nintendo Online's virtual consoles, it still can't make up for the absence of these two legendary titles.
While fans haven't exactly been quiet about their remaster demands, a viral Reddit post made by Most-Coat4726 perfectly captured the desperation that comes with still holding out hope for a Switch remaster of Windwaker HD and Twilight Princess. Even if not everyone shares the same optimism over the concept, many others said it would incentivize them to "buy a Switch 2" just for either game.
Legend Of Zelda Fans Want One Thing
Given the overwhelming success of the original Nintendo Switch and Nintendo's harsh anti-piracy policies, it's no wonder that there is so much demand for an easier way to access one of the most legendary gaming franchises of all time. Thankfully, Nintendo does offer a way to experience Windwaker today, but it requires both a Nintendo Switch 2, an NSO+ account, and only lets you play the original Gamecube edition rather than it's WiiU remaster.
Even if there was an easier way to get a hold of older versions of classics like WWHD or TP, being able to have all your favorite games in one place with all the enhancements of a modern remaster and mobile compatibility is a dream come true for any Zelda fan.
Unfortunately, despite nearly a decade having passed since the release of the original Switch, several classic entries in the franchise are still nowhere to be seen on either the Swtich or the Switch 2, which is a worrying sign for the future of the series.
Where Are These Remasters?
Even if we only got virtual system ports rather than a full-blown remaster, the glaring absence of two of The Legend of Zelda's most beloved entries on the Switch is easily one of the franchise's greatest mysteries. Even if you can already experience the original Windwaker on Switch 2, there's still plenty of preference for "not only the graphical upgrades, but the QOL improvements as well", as noted by Sneeko on Reddit.
Regardless of which version you refer to play, there's still a clear demand for both Windwaker HD and the cult-classic Twilight Princess to get their chance in the limelight, with Paper Mario's recent release sparking new hope in fans for some more classic returns with the best entries from the Legend of Zelda series instead.
