New Line has unveiled the first trailer for Lee Cronin‘s The Mummy, an original supernatural horror film from the writer and director of Evil Dead Rise, which Warner Bros. is slated to release in theaters and Imax in North America on April 17.
Not to be confused with Universal’s reboot of its Mummy franchise starring Brendan Fraser, Lee Cronin’s The Mummy follows the young daughter of a journalist who disappears into the desert without a trace. Eight years later, the broken family is shocked when she is returned to them, as what should be a joyful reunion turns into a living nightmare.
A tagline for the film is, “What Happened to Katie?”
Lee Cronin’s The Mummy stars Jack Reynor, Laia Costa, May Calamawy, Natalie Grace, and Veronica Falcón. James Wan, Jason Blum and John Keville produced, with Michael Clear, Judson Scott, Macdara Kelleher and Cronin serving as exec producers. For Cronin, The Mummy comes on the heels of Evil Dead Rise, a critically acclaimed installment in the long-running horror franchise, which brought New Line over $147 million worldwide. Prior to that, the Irish filmmaker broke out with the Sundance horror pic The Hole in the Ground.
