Laufey would prefer if you got her name right from the start, but she’s happy to correct you.

As the jazz singer (full name Laufey Lín Bing Jónsdóttir) stepped out on the Golden Globes 2026 red carpet Jan. 11 in a bold orange Balenciaga gown, she corrected photographers who continuously called her “Megan.”

“My name isn’t Megan,” Laufey corrected, laughing slightly in a video shared by Deadline on social media. “So, I don’t know…” (For more stars on the Golden Globes 2026 red carpet, see here.)

The photographers expressed surprise at the revelation, with one yelling, “Oh!” prompting Laufey to burst out laughing before moving up the stairs into the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, where host Nikki Glaser will host the 83rd annual ceremony, which is set to air on CBS and stream live on Paramount+.

And while photographers might have stumbled when capturing a photo of Laufey’s red carpet moment, the “From the Start” singer was perfectly on-theme, sporting a color reminiscent of one of tonight’s Best Picture nominees, Marty Supreme

Indeed, the film, which stars Timothée Chalamet—who is nominated for Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Motion Picture—Musical or Comedy at the Golden Globes—Gwyneth Paltrow and Odessa A’Zion has used orange as one of its main marketing tools, with Timothée even sporting a matching orange ensemble at the film’s Los Angeles premiere with girlfriend Kylie Jenner

As for whether Timothée and Kylie will sport another coordinating ensemble at the Golden Globes? The nominee teased that more was to come from the couple’s award season looks.

“You’ll see,” he told Entertainment Tonight in an interview Jan. 4. “The orange might be retired. But you’ll see.”

Meanwhile, Laufey isn’t the only star who has rocked Marty Supreme’s color palette. At the Critics Choice Awards Jan. 4, Hacks showrunner Paul W. Downs and star Megan Stalter paid homage to Timothée and Kylie’s look.

I don't even know what this is," Megan joked to E! News' on the carpet, gesturing to her outfit, which was a perfect replica of Kylie’s Marty premiere dress. “My stylist just pulled it.”
