Right now, a new reality series over at Netflix, Members Only: Palm Beach, might be giving audiences an unreal look into the lives of some of the richest women who call the titular town home, but Apple TV beat them to it. No, there isn’t a similar unscripted series on the rival streamer, but Season 2 of Palm Royale has been catching on like wildfire on the platform since it debuted back in November. Now, with just two episodes left in the Kristen Wiig-led series, all eyes are on the network for news of a hopeful Season 3 renewal. In the meantime, while you wait for what’s bound to be a gripping, laugh-out-loud, and satisfying season finale, we’ve got an exclusive first look at the penultimate installment, which is set to drop on January 7.
Far away from the sandy beaches and sunny shores of Palm Beach, our exclusive first look at this week’s episode of Palm Royale sees Maxine (Wiig) and Robert (Ricky Martin) staying as warm as possible in their knitted sweaters while on a trip to the Alps. Confronting Robert about the shocking revelation from the last episode that he has an estranged son, Maxine questions his decisions, leading to a heart-to-heart between the pair. Robert admits that the reason he stuck around with Norma (Carol Burnett) for so long is that she became a safety net for him, keeping him out of the public eye to prevent friction with his son. Explaining that his heroic moment from the Season 1 finale launched him into newspapers around the globe, Robert says his son has been reaching out, but he’s afraid to share his truth with his one and only child.
The Season 2 Finale of ‘Palm Royale’ Will Bring Plenty of Surprises
In a recent chat with Collider’s Tania Hussain, members of the cast behind Palm Royale teased the upcoming Season 2 finale, which, if it’s even remotely close to that of the debut season, will be a bonkers and larger-than-life engagement. Foreshadowing what’s on the way for his character, Martin said, “It gets crazier and messier,” while his co-star, Leslie Bibb, said of her character, Dinah, “I think at the end of the season, she's really questioning much more than at the end of the first season. With this power and this money, it hasn't quite brought her what she thought it would, and she's doubling down with somebody that she feels like she has to stay with, and I think it's really scary for her.”
