After losing her Peacock series, Based on a True Story last spring, it looked like Kaley Cuoco might be off our TV screens for a while, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. Today, the debut trailer for her upcoming MGM+ thriller series, Vanished, has appeared and puts Cuoco opposite Sam Claflin in an all-out mystery with some of the most breathtaking scenery we’ve ever laid our eyes on. Slated for an arrival on the streamer on February 1, the countdown is on for audiences to play armchair detective and attempt to crack the case before it all eventually unravels at the end of the season.
Keeping things spicy and exciting in their relationship — not to mention thrilling, adventurous and magical — Tom (Claflin) and Alice (Cuoco) hop from one European hotel to the next at the top of the Vanished trailer. While she loves meeting her partner wherever the wind carries them, Alice admits that she’s looking for something more stable with Tom while they take a train journey with some epic views in the background. But, after Tom goes missing under incredibly suspicious circumstances, Alice is left on her own to uncover the truth about where he went and who is responsible. From one city to the next, the distraught woman seeks answers, even going so far as to work alongside a private detective who claims to know plenty about the case. With each corner she turns, Alice finds a new truth about the man she thought she knew.
In addition to Claflin and Cuoco leading the charge as the troubled couple at the center of the story, Vanished also features performances from Matthias Schweighöfer (Army of the Dead), Karin Viard (Perfect Nanny), Dar Zuzovsky (A Beautiful Imperfection) and Simon Abkarian (The Swallows of Kabul). Vanished adds itself to the streamer’s already impressive lineup of productions, which recently includes the Stephen King adaptation, The Institute, and the true-crime series, The Hillside Strangler.
What to Watch While Waiting for ‘Vanished’
While you wait for the February 1 arrival of Vanished, both Cuoco and Claflin have some recent projects perfect for audiences to sink their teeth into. On the small screen, the former appeared in the aforementioned Peacock series, Based on a True Story, which came to an end in late 2024 after a two-season run. Additionally, she recently appeared alongside David Oyelowo, Connie Nielsen, and more in Thomas Vincent’s action comedy feature, Role Play. As for Claflin, the actor is currently making waves in two episodic productions, the first being Bille August’s adaptation of The Count of Monte Cristo and the latter being Prime Video’s horror thriller series, Lazarus.
