Jesy Nelson will finally reveal why she suddenly left Little Mix in her new Amazon Prime documentary.

The singer, 34, gave a first look at Jesy Nelson: Life After Little Mix as she dropped a trailer on Instagram on Thursday, ahead of its release on February 13.

The docu-series covers the 'most painful' time of her life as it charters her journey to motherhood, with the star suffering pregnancy complications, including Twin-to-Twin Transfusion Syndrome and giving birth to twin daughters Ocean Jade and Story Monroe, who have been diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA1).

The trailer opens with Jesy looking out to an empty stadium as she says: 'I have never spoken about this. I just always wanted to entertain people. It felt magical and then it very quickly isn't. I have just always stayed quiet. I was the one that left.'

A montage of clips play out from her Little Mix days, showing the star breaking down in tears and sitting out of group dance practice.

'I've really struggled keeping all of this in... Now I'm ready to tell my side of the story.'

Jesy Nelson will finally reveal why she suddenly left Little Mix in her new Amazon Prime documentary

Alongside Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Jade Thirlwall and Perrie Edwards, Jesy catapulted to fame as part of Little Mix on The X Factor back in 2011 - but left the band after nine years

Alongside Leigh-Anne Pinnock, 34, Jade Thirlwall, 33, and Perrie Edwards, 32, Jesy catapulted to fame as part of Little Mix on The X Factor back in 2011.

Their mentor Tulisa Contostavlos, 37, makes a cameo in the documentary and says of Jesy's struggle: 'When you want something so bad, you are always blind to the negatives.'

After winning The X Factor, the singer was subject to vile trolling about her looks, which impacted her mental health.

The star went on to lose weight and returned to the X Factor stage in 2013, but was still subject to nasty comments, which later led to her overdosing.

Opening up about the harrowing time in her BBC documentary titled Jesy Nelson: Odd One Out, she said: 'I just remember thinking, "I just need this to go away, I'm going to end this".

'I remember going to the kitchen and just took as many tablets as I could.

'Then I laid in bed for ages and kept thinking, "Let it happen. Hurry up"'.

'I thought, "I could be the skinniest girl in the world, and this is never going to go away," That was the point I got severely depressed,' she added.

In December 2020, Jesy confirmed that she was going to leave Little Mix after nine years.

Since winning the X Factor with her former band, the singer has had more than her fair share of struggles and heartbreak (L-R Jesy, Jade, Leigh-Anne and Perrie)

In December 2020, Jesy confirmed that she was going to leave Little Mix after nine years with this Instagram statement

The series follows Jesy through the emotional rollercoaster of pregnancy complications, including Twin-to-Twin Transfusion Syndrome, a rare, life-threatening condition

Earlier this month, Jesy revealed that her girls, who are eight-months-old, have been diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA1)

Considered the most severe form of SMA, Type 1 symptoms include extreme muscle weakness, difficulties swallowing and respiratory issues (pictured, Ocean and Story)

In an Instagram statement, she explained that she was focused on things that make her 'happy' and also said that being in the group has 'taken a toll on her mental health'.

After leaving the band, Jesy embarked on her solo career, releasing singles including Boyz, Bad Thing and Mine, and then later stepped away from the spotlight.

The remaining members of Little Mix - Jade, Perrie and Leigh-Anne - went on hiatus in 2022 to pursue solo projects.

While the trio have been vocal advocates for each other - their relationship with Jesy, who revealed in 2023 that she hadn't spoken to the girls since she quit the band - was frosty.

Elsewhere in the documentary, scenes document the moment Jesy and her now ex-fiancé Zion Foster, 27, are told by a doctor there is only a 5% chance their twin daughters will survive to birth

Another initiate clip from her three-month hospital stay, shows Jesy crying. She weeps: 'I hate that my body is letting me down'.

Jesy's mother, Janice, comments after watching her daughter's terrifying pregnancy journey: 'If something was to go wrong now. I dread to think what it would be like' - unaware of what is to come.

Jesy said the documentary is so painful to watch following her twins' diagnosis.

Considered the most severe form of SMA, Type 1 symptoms - which typically appear in infancy - include extreme muscle weakness, difficulties swallowing and respiratory issues.

Jesy is now campaigning for SMA1 screening at birth and has started a petition to get the condition added to the newborn blood spot screening test, also known as the heel prick test.

A synopsis for the show reads: 'Expecting twins, Jesy opens up about the joy, vulnerability, and fear that comes with carrying two little lives.

'The series follows Jesy through the emotional rollercoaster of pregnancy complications, including Twin-to-Twin Transfusion Syndrome, a rare and potentially life-threatening condition.

'With weekly hospital visits, candid conversations, and the unwavering support of her loved ones, Jesy navigates the highs and lows of pregnancy, confronting her deepest fears while embracing a newfound strength.

'But this journey isn't just about motherhood; she needs to confront her past, too. In this series, she will open up about the life-altering decision to leave Little Mix in 2020, breaking her silence on the relentless pressures of fame, her battle with mental health, and the controversies that followed.'

Ahead of the release, Jesy told Amazon: 'We opened the doors fully, and I'm really looking forward to letting you all in as I navigate my way to becoming a first-time mum to our beautiful baby girls, Ocean and Story.

'I'll be honest, it's not been easy as it's been such a high-risk pregnancy, so you'll see all the highs and lows and rollercoaster of emotions we have been going through.

'I hope you will all join me on this journey as I really open up and say goodbye to the past and enter this new chapter in my life. I hope you love it as much as we do.'
