Why Jennifer Lawrence Says She Identifies as a "Stay-at-Home Mom"
Jennifer Lawrence is adding a new title to her mom playbook.
Though the Mother! actor has been on an impressive acting run since welcoming her and husband Cooke Maroney’s two sons—Cy, 4, and a toddler they had in 2025—she sees herself as a mom first.
“I identify as a stay-at-home mom,” Jennifer said in the Jan. 12 episode of Will Arnett, Jason Bateman and Sean Hayes’ SmartLess podcast. “But I am obviously working.”
Indeed, the 35-year-old has starred in a few films—and will reportedly reprise her role as Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping later this year—since she had her kids. And as she continues to add more projects to her roster, she’s still growing accustomed to balancing her career with being there for her little ones.
“I’m not used to being busy like this,” Jennifer explained. “I normally have a busy three months while I’m filming, but even in that sense, it’s calm because there is nothing else to do. I just go to work, come home, sleep, and then I do it again. And then, for two weeks, you promote. It is hectic.”
But despite her packed schedule, the Die My Love star is still carving out time for her latest at-home role: becoming “an ice hockey mom.”
“I never saw that coming in Kentucky. My husband played hockey growing up,” she noted, adding that Cy and Cooke, 41, “play together in the house.”

And when Jennifer and her husband—who wed in 2019—aren’t making memories with their kids, they’re learning how to navigate parenthood through their different dynamics.
“I married somebody who is the opposite of me,” she admitted. “He is so organized. He's an anchor. Everything is ordered. I have to keep the closet doors closed, and I have my little jobs that I work really hard to do.”
The Passengers alum continued, “I get it now. [The kids are] on a very strict schedule. He’s good at keeping it. But we’ve learned to keep our marriage alive, I have a 15-minute wiggle room.”
