The DC Universe will not only see the debut of Supergirl on the big screen this summer, but also the return of Jason Momoa in the superhero genre. However, this time, the Arthur Curry star will be playing DC's Lobo, as Momoa will be part of the Supergirl movie cast.
In an interview with ScreenRant's Liam Crowley for The Wrecking Crew, Jason Momoa spoke about the differences of jumping from Zack Snyder's franchise to Gunn's DCU, which will see the Aquaman star taking on the role of Lobo. When asked what he noticed, creatively, the differences between these two DC properties, Momoa said, "I think they're very different because they're also different characters. I came in on a whisp of an idea on Batman v Superman until Justice League hit."
The Game of Thrones alum elaborated that "it was all pretty mapped out by Zack. He had it all very mapped out." However, for his DCU future, "I only know Lobo's in this one, and so we'll see what the future of all that holds. I would love for his own thing to be coming out."
Momoa said that "I don't know if there is. I think it's probably up to the audience and how they feel about it, but I think he's got his own things mapped out and I'm not privy to any of that." He continued sharing how "I think everyone's going to be... James's career is just equal to what Zack's done, what they've built and what their worlds are. They're amazing directors world building."
The Justice League alum explained that, "So I'm pretty excited. When I got to step into Lobo, I mean, that was a pinch me moment. And my first scene is pretty gnarly. I'm pressed to see another actor pull off that first take, what we did. I'm excited to talk about it because it's hard. And I grabbed it with gusto and I'm very excited about it."
While DC Studios hasn't announced what the plans are for Momoa's Lobo after the Supergirl story, there are numerous possibilities for the popular bounty hunter. He could always continue to appear in other DCU releases as a supporting player before branching off into his own project.
Supergirl opens in theaters on June 26.
