Jackass 5 has officially been confirmed, but it’s unclear which of the franchise’s original cast will return. The long-running stunt franchise exploded into popularity in the early 2000s. As the crew continues to age, Jackass 5 is shaping up to be less about pushing physical limits and more about determining who can (and should) still be involved at all.
In the years since Jackass began, the cast has struggled with substance abuse, repeated serious injuries, and even deaths. Jackass Forever introduced a new generation of performers while several original cast members were absent or simply observers. Now, with Jackass 5, it’s possible audiences could get a different line-up than the iconic original series.
Johnny Knoxville Will Appear In Jackass 5
Johnny Knoxville is the closest thing Jackass 5 has to a guaranteed returning star, having personally confirmed Jackass 5 himself. The franchise’s de facto leader announced the movie on Instagram, instantly sparking speculation about who else might join him. Knoxville’s body has taken an extreme beating over the decades, with Jackass Forever featuring some of his most brutal injuries yet.
Nevertheless, he remains the face of the series and its creative driving force. Even if his stunt work is scaled back, Knoxville’s presence is essential. Jackass 5 simply wouldn’t exist without him, whether he’s taking hits, orchestrating pranks, or guiding the next generation.
Bam Margera’s involvement in Jackass 5 appears limited to archive footage, if at all. According to reports via TMZ, filmmakers are negotiating the use of old footage featuring Margera. This follows his removal from Jackass Forever for violating a sobriety clause.
Since then, Bam has publicly stated that there isn’t enough money in the world to convince him to return. Despite that, the creative team reportedly still wants to acknowledge his legacy and unseen work. Using archival material would allow Jackass 5 to include Bam without reopening the personal and legal complications that have surrounded his relationship with the cast.
Steve-O Could Have A More Minor Role In Jackass 5
Steve-O has been open about his mixed feelings regarding another Jackass movie. While he’s said he believes the group will still work together again, he’s also expressed concern about age, injuries, and diminishing returns. After Jackass Forever, Steve-O admitted it wasn’t fun watching Johnny Knoxville suffer such extreme injuries.
He questioned whether the stunts are still safe (or even entertaining) at this stage. He’s also extremely busy with stand-up comedy tours and his popular podcast. While it’s unlikely Steve-O would skip Jackass 5 entirely, his role may be significantly toned down.
Chris Pontius Will Likely Appear In Jackass 5
Chris Pontius has been one of the more enthusiastic voices about making a fifth Jackass movie. He’s previously stated that he wanted another installment to make up for Jackass Forever, which he felt was compromised by COVID-19 lockdowns and restrictions. Pontius has always thrived on crowd interaction, elaborate setups, and outrageous physical comedy.
These elements were notably harder to fully realize during the pandemic. His disappointment suggests he sees Jackass 5 as a chance to properly send off the franchise or at least deliver a more complete experience. Given his positivity and continued relationship with the group, his return seems very likely.
Ryan Dunn Won't Appear In Jackass 5
Ryan Dunn will not appear in Jackass 5, as he tragically died in 2011 following a drunk driving accident. Dunn’s absence has been deeply felt in every Jackass project since his passing. The remaining cast has frequently honored his memory both on and off-screen.
Jackass Forever included tributes to Dunn, acknowledging his importance to the franchise’s identity and emotional core. Archival references or dedications are likely to continue in Jackass 5, which is reported to include unseen footage of early Jackass stunts. As such a vital component in the early years, it’s almost certain that Dunn will be referenced in some form.
Dave England Will Likely Appear In Jackass 5
Dave England is likely to appear in Jackass 5, even as he continues working on stand-up comedy material and touring. England has notably diversified his career outside the franchise. Yet he’s remained a consistent and reliable presence in Jackass projects over the years.
England’s willingness to balance other creative pursuits with returning for films suggests he still values his role within the group. England’s stunts have often leaned more toward endurance and absurdity than sheer bodily destruction, which may make his participation more sustainable as the cast ages. That balance makes his return one of the safer bets.
Jason "Wee Man" Acuña Will Likely Appear In Jackass 5
Jason “Wee Man” Acuña has spoken openly about how lucky he feels that Jackass Forever even happened. He expressed gratitude that the franchise has lasted as long as it has. That perspective makes it very likely he’ll return for Jackass 5 in some capacity.
Wee Man has always brought a unique physicality and comedic timing to the series, often serving as the heart of ensemble pranks rather than just shock-value stunts. His appreciation for the opportunity suggests he sees each new installment as a bonus rather than an obligation. It makes his continued involvement feel both probable and meaningful.
Ehren McGhehey Will Likely Appear In Jackass 5
Ehren McGhehey has been one of the most consistently present Jackass cast members throughout the franchise’s history. There’s little reason to believe that will change with Jackass 5. However, Ehren has also been candid about the toll the series has taken on his body, particularly after suffering multiple head and spinal injuries.

The Jackass movies have gotten more acclaim and success with each consecutive release, but that doesn't mean Paramount should make Jackass 5.
He’s acknowledged the need to be more selective with his stunts going forward, prioritizing long-term health over escalation. Even so, his loyalty to the franchise and adaptability suggest he’ll still play a role. However, that role might be limited to groin-punishment only.
Preston Lacy Will Likely Appear In Jackass 5
Preston Lacy is also likely to be involved in Jackass 5, at least behind the scenes if not heavily featured on screen. Like Wee Man, Lacy has spoken about how fortunate he felt that Jackass has lasted this long. He’s demonstrated a genuine appreciation for the franchise’s longevity.
While his physical stunt work may be more limited now, Preston’s comedic instincts and writing contributions remain valuable. Lacy is credited with some of the franchise’s greatest stunts. So, even if he isn’t front and center in dangerous setups, his involvement in Jackass 5 as a creative contributor or writer, at the very least, is presumed.
