You don't just make glass in Hytale; you craft glass products. So, while there's no need to create glass as a resource, you must decide which glass item you'd like to get, build the appropriate workbench, and find the right resource materials. Is it a window you're after? In that case, you won't need any glass at all.

As this may sound a bit confusing, here's how to craft glass items and build windows in Hytale.

How to get glass in Hytale

If you're a Minecraft player, you might've assumed that smelting sand inside a furnace would produce glass. That isn't the case here in Hytale; smelting sand will only get you an empty potion bottle. If you're looking to make glass windows, you'll need to look for windows in the builder's workbench, which we describe in detail in the section below.

That said, it's still a useful glass item to have, especially if you've placed an alchemist's workbench and are looking into potion-crafting. So, if you'd like to craft glass bottles, use a shovel (or a pickaxe, if you haven't got a shovel yet) to collect sand from a coastline or riverbed. Beware that narrow rivers aren't always adjacent to blocks of sand. If you open your map, look for very light, cream-colored blocks next to bodies of water; these are the sandy areas.

A standard furnace (which can be crafted on a standard workbench) is powerful enough to transform sand into empty potion bottles. One block of sand creates one bottle.

How to build windows in Hytale

To craft a window for your Hytale home, place a workbench, go to the "crafting" tab, and make a builder's workbench. This will cost six tree trunks (wood blocks) and three stones. Next, open the builder's workbench and place any type of wood in the input slot. Scroll through the crafting recipes until you find a window. One block of wood should give you two small windows.

The type of window corresponds to the type of wood. For example, an oak log can be transformed into a simple window, while an aspen log will get you a crude window.
