Guy Fieri, 57, gives health update nearly two months after freak on-set accident left him in a wheelchair

Guy Fieri has shared an update on his health nearly two months after he suffered a freak accident that left him temporarily wheelchair-bound.

The Food Network icon, 57, was rushed to the hospital in late November 2025 after he fell down a flight of stairs and tore his quad 'in half' while shooting his new series, Flavortown Food Fight.

After undergoing emergency surgery, he was spotted in a wheelchair and had to spend the holidays off of his feet while recovering.

'I'm doing better,' Fieri told People on Wednesday before later admitting it was 'the worst thing I've been through in the last 20 years.'

'It was definitely a trying holiday, but you know what, you get some real appreciation for having the ability to just get up and walk around and do everything you used to.'

He explained that he was 'taking it easy' now but admitted the past two months have been difficult since he had to avoid any physical activity while recovering.

'I'm a big CrossFit and hiking guy, so eight weeks of no hiking has driven me kind of crazy,' he said.

'But I'm looking forward to it, trying to take it easy.'

Back in November, he first spoke about how he was injured after falling down a set of stairs and said 'it sucked.'

'I slipped down a set of steps and one foot went forward and the other foot got caught on the threshold,' he told Fox News Digital at the time. 'So, you know, it extended me out.'

He continued: 'I looked like I was probably doing the splits, but when my right leg compressed into itself, the giveaway point … and the doctor said he's never seen — you know, in 20 years — he hasn't seen a tear in the biggest, thickest part of your quad in half. Yeah, it sucked.'

He said the tear in his quad was 'right in the center' of the muscle, causing the injury to 'explode.' And to prevent the muscle from 'receding,' Fieri had to undergo emergency surgery.

He also recalled being told he had to be in a wheelchair or on crutches for eight weeks following the surgery.

While his two-month recovery journey has wrapped, he said that he plans to continue taking it slow and not overextending his muscle to make sure he is fully recovered by the time he is set to throw a Super Bowl LX tailgate party in Daly City, California.

He told People this week that his doctors advised him against too much physical activity.

'My doctors are all like, "We know you want to get after it, but let's not go back to where we were." And I'm like, "We are never going back to that!"'

He also admitted that the accident and the long recovery journey was 'the worst thing I've been through in the last 20 years.'

'But now I'll be up and ready and healthy and rolling by the time we hit the Super Bowl for sure,' he added.

He also previously opened up about how he spent the holidays with his kids and recalled how his sons stepped up to take over Thanksgiving duties while he was recovering.

Fieri shares sons Hunter, 29, and Ryder, 20, with wife Lori and has raised nephew Jules, 26, as his own since his sister's death in 2011.

Prior to the family gathering in November and after his surgery, Fieri recalled getting an amusing text from his youngest son Ryder while he was away at college.

Fieri told Fox News Digital: 'He said, "Well, I guess all the training you've given me and all the cooking I've been doing while I was at school, it was going to be my time to shine."

'And I said, "I am so happy you're asking me about this versus me telling you, "You have to do it."'
