Great British Bake Off star Ruby Bhogal has revealed she has suffered a heartbreaking miscarriage just months into her pregnancy.
The TV baker, 36, who was a finalist on the popular long running show in 2018, shared her devastating loss in a video uploaded to her Instagram on Sunday evening.
An emotional looking Ruby told her followers that she and her husband James had learned that she was pregnant with their first child during their second honeymoon in Mexico last November but had lost the baby before Christmas.
She said: 'This isn't the video we were hoping to be sharing with you today. I was hoping to be sharing a video with you all telling you how excited I was because James and I found out we were pregnant when we went away to Mexico at the end of last year.
'And we were thrilled and elated. James has been so broody for years and it's always been me who's been pushing the brakes on everything.

Ruby shared this throwback clip to when she and her husband James discovered they were expecting last year
'But unfortunately, I had a missed miscarriage just before Christmas and I know I don't tend to share anything too deep and personal over here and I like to keep thing quite light, sassy and very cake heavy.
'But in truth, I didn't know how to come back on here and just start posting recipes and content like everything was ok.
She continued: 'I've spent the last three weeks actively seeking out a community of people going through the same thing, listening to a shared grief. Being in awe of people showing such strength and courage at a time which truly just destabilises you to your very core.
'And whilst I'm hoping this makes someone else feel less alone, I guess I'm also hoping that it does the same for me too.
'I'm hoping one day it gives me some sort of clarity on how to move forward and how to accept this grief, because right now I feel quite heartbroken and really lost, teamed with lots of endless questions about why?
'Why me? What did I do wrong? Could I have done something more? Should I have done something better? Could I have prevented it? What happened that day?
Heartbreakingly, she added: 'And then there's that overarching feeling of failure. Like I failed myself and I failed James and I failed our future and I failed most importantly, our baby.
'I would be screaming at my friend if the shoe was on the other foot, telling them that it wasn't their fault, but my mind is having quite a hard time accepting that.
Ruby has confirmed her engagement to long-term partner James in January 2024
'So please bear with me over here and also over on my newsletter. I just need a bit of time to try and find my feet and try and find myself in this new chapter.
'I'm trying to learn that it's ok to not be ok and learn that it's ok to also ask for help. I will still continue and hold out hope that one day will be our day. It's just not today.'
Ruby also wrote in the caption: 'This wasn’t the video I was hoping to share with you all as my first of 2026 but sharing a little life update in hope of it helping others and myself.
'I know you’re all here for the filthy bakes and world cakes so if my content looks a little different in the coming weeks, please bear with me whilst I try and find my feet and find that spark again.
'If you’re going through or experiencing something similar, some resources and accounts I’ve found helpful:
'It can be an incredibly isolating time, even when surrounded by the most wonderful people. We’re told miscarriage is common, missed miscarriages less than but rarely find it spoken about.
'I’ve found company in a community of those sharing their grief and experience - pls know I’m here with you and I’m here for you.

'Any resources anyone has found helpful, I’d love if you could share below. Here’s to hoping for a better 2026 #miscarriage #pregnancyloss #miscarriagesupport #miscarriageawareness.'
The TV personality revealed that she wanted to share the sad news as she hoped that it would be able to help her come to terms with the grief as well as to help others who might be experiencing the same loss.
Her followers and friends were quick to offer their messages of support following the devastating news.
Ruby only revealed that she had secretly wed long-term partner BBC presenter James Stewart in a lavish ceremony last summer, a few months ago.
He is best known for being a regular on Morning Live as well as his stints on Blue Peter and CBBC.
The couple’s start to married life however didn’t go to plan after Ruby revealed that she got e.coli, contracted Covid and sprained her ankle during their first honeymoon away.
