A new Godzilla movie will barge into North American theaters in late 2026. After former World War 2 kamikaze pilot Kōichi Shikishima thwarted the gargantuan reptile's plans to destroy the world in Godzilla Minus One, the monster is set to resurface in Godzilla Minus Zero.

As announced by GKids Films, the company in charge of the theatrical distribution, the US release date for Godzilla Minus Zero is Nov. 6, 2026, three days after the Japanese release on Nov. 3, 2026. The release dates for other regions are yet to be revealed.

Godzilla Minus Zero will be the 39th Godzilla movie and serve as a direct sequel to the award-winning Godzilla Minus One, exactly three years after the latter's release on Nov. 3, 2023. As Godzilla connoisseurs may already know, this is no randomly chosen date; it coincides with the annual Godzilla Day, which commemorates the release of the first Godzilla movie on Nov. 3, 1954.

The near-simultaneous release dates are a first in the Godzilla series, as the wait between the Japanese and American releases is usually much longer; Godzilla Minus One, for example, was released on Dec. 1 for American audiences.

Having grossed more than $116 million worldwide and won an Oscar for Best Visual Effects, Godzilla Minus One was one of the most successful movies of 2023. Like its predecessor, Godzilla Minus Zero is written and directed by Takashi Yamazaki, who also oversees the VFX. Ryûnosuke Kamiki and Minami Hamabe are expected to reprise the roles of Kōichi Shikishima and Noriko Ōishi, respectively.
