Fallout Officially Returning This June With A Brand-New Release

Ewan is Deputy Editor for ScreenRant's gaming section. He still quite hasn’t gotten out of his mid 00’s emo phase, and knows more about The Legend of Zelda and Doctor Who than is probably healthy.

Ewan oversees the content operation of ScreenRant's gaming output, working with a talented team of writers and editors to cover everything from the latest GTA 6 news to the indie games you need on your radar.

Former Editor of GAMINGbible, Ewan also has words at Kotaku, Den of Geek, NME, and UNILAD. He's appeared on various podcasts, including VGC's and BBC's Let's Talk About Tech.

It's a funny old time to be a Fallout fan. While the Amazon Prime series is continuing to go strong, gamers waiting for Fallout 5 are having to make do with whatever scraps of news Todd Howard and Bethesda throw their way. Understandable, given the focus is on The Elder Scrolls VI right now, but a new Fallout game would go down smoother than a bottle of purified water and a hit of RadAway.

The good news is that gamers can look forward to a new Fallout video game release this year. It's coming in June, and it's available to pre-order now. The less-good news is that while it's a new release, the game itself is a familiar one. Still, we take what we can get. Fallout 5 isn't exactly close, after all.

Fallout: New Vegas Is Officially Back

War never changes

Fallout New Vegas Collector's Edition

Bethesda is officially celebrating the 15th anniversary of Fallout: New Vegas with a brand-new anniversary bundle. I'd have preferred a remaster or remake, if I'm being honest, but this does look like a really cool bit of kit. You can take a look at it above, and the official description is below.

"Explore vast expanses of desert wastelands from small towns to the New Vegas Strip. Choose sides in the upcoming war and forever change the lives of New Vegas inhabitants. Enjoy finely tuned real-time combat mechanics with the V.A.T.S. targeting system, Hardcore mode, and streamlined companion commands. In a huge, open world with unlimited options, you can see the sights, choose sides, or go it alone. Joined by Victor the Securitron, the 15th Anniversary Bundle will bring the spirit of this desert oasis right to your home."

Here's everything the set includes:

  • Victor Statue (8" PVC): The friendly Securitron stands tall and ready to roll.
  • Doc Mitchell’s Evaluation Cards (7x7 cardstock set): Straight from your first moments in Goodsprings, a true piece of New Vegas history.
  • Vault Boy Enamel Pin (1.5"): Vault Boy stacks the odds with poker chips in hand.
  • Mojave Express Patch (3.5" × 1.9"): Woven, iron-on, and full of wasteland charm.
  • NCR Recon Patch (3.25" × 3.5"): Woven, iron-on insignia of the New California Republic’s finest.
  • Fallout: New Vegas Ultimate Edition: Includes the full game PC digital code plus the following DLC: Dead Money, Honest Hearts, Old World Blues, Lonesome Road, Courier’s Stash Weapon Pack, Gun Runner’s Arsenal Weapon Pack.
  • Collector’s Big Box: A throwback-style display box created exclusively for the anniversary.

Fallout: New Vegas Could Still Get A Remake

We just need to wait

This handsome Fallout: New Vegas set is scheduled to release in June (the exact day hasn't been specified), but what about a proper remake? Will we ever get one? Recent leaks suggest a remake of New Vegas or Fallout 3 could be on the way, which would be a lovely surprise, but nothing is officially confirmed at this time.

It's worth noting a Fallout 3 remake was leaked in the same court documents that showed the now-released Oblivion remake, but there was never any mention of a New Vegas remake. Plans could change, of course. I hope they have.
