Time marches on, and when it comes to the Fallout series, there will always be more entries. The success of the TV show will accelerate that inevitability, and we can probably guess what Bethesda has planned to some degree.
As reported by Windows Central, there's actually quite a bit planned for the Fallout franchise. It just might take some time to actually see all those plans through.
Fallout 5 Has Been "Greenlit"
It's Inevitable
As we could surmise (and glean straight from the mouth of Todd Howard), Fallout 5 has been "greenlit," and will be coming out eventually. Howard notes that the series is seeing a lot of "investment," and that includes projects other than Fallout 5. With Bethesda's 40th anniversary on the horizon, anything is possible, especially considering that Fallout 5 is likely years away at this point, with the game seemingly in the early stages.
The most fascinating prospect of Fallout 5 is how Bethesda plans to incorporate lore from the TV show. While the show has played fast and loose with some info, Bethesda is keen on incorporating it into the games, as per Todd Howard. How all this coalesces will be interesting, especially as old-school Fallout game fans and new-school TV show fans duke it out over the details.
Multiple Fallout Remasters Are Also Coming, Apparently
Bethesda Will Never Say No To A Remaster
That's not all the Fallout series has planned, though. According to the report, Fallout 3 is going to get the remastered treatment, similar to how Elder Scrolls: Oblivion Remastered dropped last year. There are no details on whether it's a shadow drop or not, but given how much Bethesda loves to re-release its games, it's a sure bet. Fallout: New Vegas is also gearing up for a remaster, which would be incredible news given that it's easily one of the best entries in series history.
Obsidian is apparently working on multiple projects, though it's unclear if any of them are Fallout-centric. I can see them consulting on the New Vegas remaster now that they're all under one roof with Microsoft. There's also an Amazon Prime Fallout TV show countdown timer, which reportedly is not for a Fallout game (new or re-release).
That's basically all the info we know on upcoming Fallout projects. I expect tons of leaks sometime this year, but Bethesda could also circumvent said leaks with a shadow drop. It worked out pretty well for Oblivion, and releasing a remaster of a beloved Fallout entry to keep the momentum going after the second season of the TV show ends is a great idea.
