EXCLUSIVE: Netfix has rounded out cast for its forthcoming high school hockey drama series adding Émilie Bierre (Teacup) Shai Chase (Diary of a Muslim Cynic), Josh Macqueen (Motorheads), Costa D’Angelo (Tell Me Lies), Carter Shimp (Best Medicine) and Ethan Holder (Ballard) as series regulars. They join Michelle Monaghan, who stars in the as-yet untitled eight-episode series from Nick Naveda, Bridget Bedard and Shawn Levy’s 21 Laps.
Also cast in recurring roles are Isaac Arellanes (My Life with the Walter Boys), Chloe Avakian (Devil in Disguise: John Wayne Gacy), Caleb Baumann (It’s Not Like That), River Codack (Happy Face), newcomer Angus Albinati and Callum Orchison (The Best is Yet to Come).
Bierre plays Riley Sullivan; Chase is Henry Sullivan, Macqueen plays Rhett Nelson; D’Angelo portrays Owen Boone, Shimp is Austin Ryder and Holder plays Cooper Cunningham.
Arellanes recurs as Manny Rodriquez; Avakian as Izzy Miller; Baumann as Elu; Codack as Tyler Walker; Albinati as Jack McNeely and Orchison as Derek Marchbanks.
Created by Naveda, the Untitled Hockey Series takes place in the small working-class town of South Dorothy, Minnesota, where the high school hockey team has been churning out of state championships and NHL stars for decades with their legendary Coach “Sully” Sullivan at the helm. When a bus crash claims the lives of several players and Sully himself, the town looks to Harper Sullivan (Monaghan)— Coach Sully’s widow — to coach a new team of battered and broken young men. What unfolds is the hopeful and unforgettable story of an underdog team who comes together to galvanize their town, reclaim their way of life, and turn their shared grief into an unstoppable superpower.
Naveda serves as creator and executive producer with Bedard as showrunner and executive producer. Levy, Dan Levine and Robert Atwood executive for 21 Laps under their overall deal with Netflix.
