Elle Fanning has a new series coming to Apple TV, and it feels like the right next step after Sentimental Value. Sentimental Value is a criminally underseen drama from Norwegian filmmaker Joachim Trier. Released in the United States on November 7, 2025, the film currently has a 97% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Fanning co-stars in the film as Rachel Kemp, an American actress who is the lead in celebrated film director Gustav Borg's (Stellan Skarsgård) new play. Unable to speak Norwegian, Rachel becomes uncertain in her work for the first time in years and begins to make it Gustav's problem as well.

It's a wonderful, unexpectedly difficult performance from Fanning, whose career has taken some surprising, but successful turns over the last couple of years. In April 2026, she will take on a more conventional role compared to her others, but it's one that's the right move for her career.

Elle Fanning Stars As Margo Millet In Margo's Got Money Troubles

Elle Fanning is set to star in the upcoming Apple TV original series, Margo's Got Money Troubles, based on the 2024 novel by Rufi Thorpe. The series, and the book, center on Margo Millet (Fanning), the daughter of a Hooters waitress, Shyanne (Michelle Pfeiffer), and a former professional wrestler, Jinx (Nick Offerman).

Margo's tumultuous life has led her in many directions, and most recently, she's become pregnant after having an affair with her junior college English professor. Desperate for a way to pay for her new child, Margo decides to try out OnlyFans and reconnects with Jinx along the way.

Jinx's time in the kayfabe of WWE translates surprisingly well to creating a character for an OnlyFans page, and Margo quickly becomes a major star on the website. Billed as a drama, the novel is sharply funny, and could be the perfect lead performance Fanning has been looking for to take her career up another step.

Elle Fanning's Career Continues To Be Fascinating

 Badlands

Despite the "scandalous" and unusual nature of the book, this would actually be one of the more "traditional" roles of Elle Fanning's career. Since she began acting at age 3 in I Am Sam, Fanning has appeared in a surprising number of films and TV shows that other stars don't typically go for.

Elle Fanning was Catherine the Great in the highly unique The Great, played a small, oft-humiliated Sylvie Russo in A Complete Unknown, and hung from the back of a Yautja in Predator: Badlands. This role in Margo's Got Money Troubles could be how a wider audience gets to see her impressive talents.
