ZDNET's key takeaways
- If you use several web browsers, you need this app.
- Browser Picker makes switching default browsers easier.
- Browser Picker is free to install and use.
I currently have 13 web browsers installed on my MacBook Pro.
Yeah, that's a bit much.
Some of those browsers are there only because I tested, reviewed, and forgot to uninstall them. On the other hand, the other browsers are there because I use them regularly.
Also: I've tried nearly every browser out there and these are my top 4 (spoiler: none are Chrome)
That's right, I use multiple web browsers, each for a different reason. For example, I might do online banking/shopping with Brave because of the added security, and I'll use DuckDuckGo or Tor Browser for anonymous searching. For everyday use, I'll open Opera on MacOS and be done with it. I have installed other browsers that serve different functions, but the point is that I work with several, and switching between them can be a hassle.
That's where Browser Picker comes into play.
Browser Picker makes it easy for you to switch between browsers by simply clicking a drop-down in the top bar and selecting which browser you want to use.
Here's how Browser Picker works:

From the top bar drop-down, you select the browser you want/need to use. Once you've selected that browser, any time you click on a link from within another app, the link will open in the browser you've chosen. You could also have a link copied to your clipboard and, from the drop-down, select to open that link in the browser you've chosen.
Selecting a new "temporary" default web browser is simple with Browser Picker.
You can also install browsers from the Browser Picker drop-down.
In other words, the app makes dealing with several web browsers considerably easier. For developers, admins and even everyday users, Browser Picker is handy to have around.
Installing Browser Picker
Installing Browser Picker is simple because it's found in the MacOS App Store. Open the App Store, search for "browser picker," click on the entry, and then click Get.

There's no cost for installing Browser Picker, but you can purchase the Pro version for a one-time fee of $5.99. The Pro version gives you unlimited browser switching, faster browser installations, and unlimited link opening.
I recommend you take the free version for a test drive; if you're impressed, pay for the Pro version.
Using Browser Picker
Using Browser Picker is about as simple as it gets. Simply select the browser you want to use from the drop-down, and that will be your new default until you select a different one.
That's essentially what Browser Picker does -- it makes switching your default browser from the convenience of a menu bar drop-down.
There's also the clipboard option. If you've copied a URL, simply open the Browser Picker drop-down and click "Open URL from Pasteboard." Whatever browser you've selected from Browser Picker will then automatically open the copied link.
If you've copied a link to your clipboard, click Open URL from Pasteboard, and the browser you've selected will open the address.
Need to open a link in a different browser? Select whichever one you want to use from the drop-down.
It really is that simple and convenient.

And that's all there is to Browser Picker. If you work with multiple web browsers, you should consider Browser Picker to be a must-have.
Give this tiny app a try and see if it doesn't help you keep your browser minions in check and easier to deal with.
