Former Disney star Matt Prokop has been taken into custody on charges of possessing child pornography and several other crimes.

According to a report from People, Prokop, who was featured in Disney projects including High School Musical 3: Senior Year, Hannah Montana, and Geek Charming, was arrested on December 24, 2025, in Texas. Authorities say he is facing a second-degree felony charge related to possession of child pornography, along with evading arrest, violating a bond, and resisting arrest, search, or transportation.

The former child actor has also been accused by his ex-girlfriend, Modern Family star Sarah Hyland, of domestic violence. In May 2014, she was granted a temporary restraining order when she reported him for physically assaulting her and threatening to burn her house down because they got into an argument.

While Hyland doesn't talk about the incident often, she discussed the experience in an interview with Variety last October. The actor said that the abuse understandably left an emotional scar on her. She explained that the only way to heal is to confront it and "putting love towards that scar."

I don’t know if that part [of] any woman will ever be fully healed from that. It’s something that kind of scars her soul a little bit. It’s more so putting love towards that scar instead of hating it and ignoring it.

Prokop began his acting career when he guest-starred on Hannah Montana in 2007, where he portrayed a character named Troy McCann. He went on to land roles in several TV series, including The Office, Medium, Good Luck Charlie, and In the Motherhood.

He also starred in many films. These include Furry Vengeance and High School Musical 3, where he played Jimmie Zara, one of the freshmen members of the fictional school, East High's basketball team.
