Dax Shepard Addresses Cher's Comments About Kristen Bell Marriage

Despite Cher's eyebrow-raising opinion about Dax and Kristen's 12-year marriage, the "Believe" singer admitted during their podcast episode that she's happy to see her longtime friend in a good place.

"The truth is, I trust her," Cher said during her Armchair Expert podcast appearance. "So, you must have something that I don't see."

The 79-year-old—mom to sons Chaz Bono, 56, with ex-husband Sonny Bono, and Elijah Allman, 49, with ex-husband Gegg Allman—added, "And you seem like a good dad."

Meanwhile, Dax and Kristen—who share daughters Lincoln, 12, and Delta, 11—were sure to share some of the podcast host's best qualities. As he put it, "I'm not threatened by her shining. I love it. The shinier she gets, the better."

And the Veronica Mars alum couldn't agree more.

"There's a lot to this man," she told Cher. "Trust me, he's a slow burn, but you're gonna learn to love him. He's almost too good for me."

For Kristen and Dax, what's kept their marriage so strong comes down to two simple, yet essential qualities: trust and communication.

"Even if Dax hooks up with the most beautiful person in the world at work, I know he's committed to our family," the Good Place actress told E! News last February. "I know he's coming home. I know he loves our children. I know he strives to be a great husband and father."

"We're just human, right?" she continued. “So maybe there could be a day where I'm like, 'I'm actually really nervous that you spend time with that person.' And he could say, 'Oh, OK, let's talk about it. What makes you nervous? What are you thinking?' We have a very open communication."
