David Harbour has backed out of Behemoth!, the upcoming Searchlight film from Andor‘s Tony Gilroy, Deadline can confirm.

Details as to what motivated the move weren’t disclosed. Harbour had been set to star opposite Pedro Pascal, Olivia Wilde, Eva Victor, Matthew Lillard, Margarita Levieva, and Alexa Swinton, with production on the film kicking off in Los Angeles back in October.

Harbour is of course coming off an intensive press tour for the fifth and final season of Netflix’s Stranger Things, which rolled out in three installments over the holidays and closed out on New Year’s Eve. Already, Season 5 stands alone as Netflix’s ninth most popular English-language series of all time with over 105 million views and counting. Harbour has also taken on a lot of late on the production front, between the HBO dark comedy DTF St. Louis with Jason Bateman, Linda Cardellini and Richard Jenkins, and Evil Genius, the Courteney Cox-helmed true crime thriller where he stars opposite Patricia Arquette. Upcoming, he’ll also be seen reprising his Thunderbolts* role of Red Guardian in Avengers: Doomsday, and in Universal’s Violent Night 2, where he reprises as a Santa Claus not opposed to violence.

Searchlight has kept Behemoth!‘s logline under wraps, though it’s understood that the film revolves around a cellist. Gilroy is directing from his own script and producing the film alongside Sanne Wohlenberg and John Gilroy (Andor). SVP of Production Rayne Roberts and Creative Executive Cameron Chidsey are overseeing for Searchlight Pictures, reporting to Heads of Production and Development DanTram Nguyen and Katie Goodson-Thomas.

Harbour is repped by WME and Sloane, Offer, Weber & Dern.
