Daredevil is back, as Marvel’s Man Without Fear braces himself for a shake-up in his “status quo,” and the publisher just dropped a hardcore new tagline for the rebooted series: “you can bury the bodies, but never the ghosts.” In other words, it sounds like Matt Murdoch’s future will be imperiled by something, or someone, from his past.
Daredevil #1 is written by Stephanie Phillips, with art by Lee Garbett. The series is set to introduce a new villain for the hero to tangle with, while his alter ego adjusts to a new paradigm of his own.
That is, Murdoch is now officially a law professor, forging a new frontier in his civilian career.
The Future Is Now For Daredevil, But That Doesn't Mean He Can Let Go Of His Past

Here’s the full synopsis for Marvel’s upcoming Daredevil #1:
YOU CAN BURY THE BODIES, BUT NEVER THE GHOSTS!
Hell's Kitchen is full of secrets — but no secret stays buried for long! As a fearsome new super villain named OMEN has targeted MATT MURDOCK, it will be his alter-ego DAREDEVIL who takes the hits! BUT BEWARE! This mysterious new player isn't all that they appear — a secret Daredevil will have to learn quickly as he scrambles to settle into a life and status-quo we've NEVER SEEN HIM IN BEFORE! Look alive, Marvelites, an all-new and unprecedented era of DAREDEVIL starts right here!
Aside from a killer tagline, there is a clear promise being made here: this is the Daredevil you know, but this won’t be a retread of the Daredevil books you’ve read before. Meaning Marvel is trying to thread the needle of a reboot and a “return to form.”
Which is notable, because it is Marvel’s acknowledgement that fans don’t want heroes like Daredevil to stray too far from what made them iconic, but readers also don’t want the same stories and story beats playing out on a loop from issue-to-issue. Daredevil #1 shows Marvel is trying to navigate that tightrope act.
Daredevil Is Going Back To Basics, But Don't Expect The Same Old Man Without Fear
Daredevil #1 Variant Cover By Daniel Warren Johnson
It has been a turbulent few years for Daredevil, in-universe and also behind-the-scenes. The hero’s lore has become increasingly supernatural, and increasingly convoluted, as Marvel Comics has attempted to make its prototypical “street-level” protagonist into a more “epic” hero. The end result though, with Daredevil fighting literal demons, never fully clicked with fans.
As such, calls for a reboot of the character have become increasingly vocal. With its new Daredevil series, Marvel seems to have listened. While promising a new “status quo” and new challenges for the Man Without Fear, it seems the new Daredevil book, which debuts in April, will go back to a more grounded version of the hero.
Daredevil #1 will be available April 1, 2026 from Marvel Comics.
