Damson Idris Responds to James Bond Casting Rumors at Golden Globes

Damson Idris set the record straight in an exclusive interview with E! News at the 2026 Golden Globes over whether he's been tapped to be the next James Bond.

Damson Idris is used to life in the fast lane.

Which is why it should come as no surprise that the F1 star is the new subject of James Bond casting rumors—speculation he addressed while walking the carpet at the Beverly Hilton for the 2026 Golden Globe Awards.

"It's definitely not true, it's just a rumor," Damson confirmed to Justin Sylvester on LIVE from E!: Golden Globes 2026, though he's honored to be the subject of speculation. "All these roles are superb and I think it's a testament to a young artist to be given that compliment."

And he knows he's the next in a long line of actors fans have hoped will be the next to order a martini shaken, not stirred.

"There's been many artists before me—Idris Elba, my big brother, and many artists today," Damson—dressed in a black suit and bow tie—continued. "So I think it's just a testament saying that we're doing a good job and have people see us." (See every star's look here.)

But while the next British star to embody the super spy remains uncertain, there are other projects and collaborations for which Damson is keeping his fingers crossed.

"I'm in love with Wunmi [Mosaku] right now," he revealed. "Her performance in Sinners is superb. I ran into her bunch of times—that's definitely someone I want to work with."

After all, Damson has experience working with some of the biggest stars Hollywood has to offer, having costarred alongside Brad Pitt in F1, which is nominated for Best Score Motion Picture and Best Cinematic and Box Office Achievement at the Golden Globes.

Of the experience, Damson raved he was "super, super fortunate," though he couldn't help but poke fun at his absent costar.

"Brad ain't here today," the 34-year-old said, "but I came personally to say I'm faster than him driving Formula One cars."
