EXCLUSIVE: Daisy Jelley (How to Have Sex) and Annie Murphy (Schitt’s Creek) have landed lead roles in Poser, Netflix‘s new eight-episode YA drama series from On My Block creator Lauren Iungerich.

Character details are under wraps. Exploring toxic female friendship through the lens of a sexy, emotional thriller, Poser centers around two estranged, former best friends. When one of them is given a chance to live the life she’s long coveted, and maybe get answers as to why they fell out years ago, she finds herself in a psychological game of revenge, betrayal, and heartbreak — ultimately altering their lives, and those around them, forever.

Emerging from Iungerich’s overall deal at Netflix, the show is her first hourlong drama and the first she has solely created since her breakout project, MTV’s Awkward. In addition to showrunning and writing, she’s exec producing alongside Jamie Dooner via her Crazy Cat Lady Entertainment. We were first to report on Netflix’s pickup of Poser last September.

Jelley is a rising English actress who has recently been seen in the Cannes Film Festival winner How to Have Sex, Netflix’s Geek Girl, and Nick Cassavetes’ Marked Men. Up next, she’ll be seen starring alongside other emerging Irish and UK talents in the Van Belle indie Feed. She is repped by Strand Entertainment, the UK-based Olivia Bell Management, and Yorn, Levine, Barnes.

Murphy broke out with her Emmy- and Actors Award (then-SAG Award)-winning performance as Alexis Rose in the Canadian comedy Schitt’s Creek. Since then, she’s been seen in Hulu’s Nine Perfect Strangers, Netflix’s Black Mirror and Russian Doll, and in a headlining role in AMC’s Kevin Can F**k Himself. Murphy will next be seen starring opposite Cooper Raiff in the rom-com All That She Wants from Ley Line Entertainment, as well as in the adult animated series Breaking Bear on Tubi. She is repped by CAA and Mosaic.
