Rianna is the Movie News Editor for ScreenRant. After earning her BA in Film Studies, she began her career as an entertainment writer, contributing to several publications before joining ScreenRant. Her dissertation on the impact of streaming on traditional cinema sharpened her focus on the ever-evolving world of film and media. With 6 years in the industry, Rianna continues to cover the stories she loves while also advocating for awareness and representation of rare disabilities, such as Moebius Syndrome, which she lives with.

Author and producer of It Ends with Us and Regretting You, Colleen Hoover, has revealed she has undergone treatment for cancer.

In an Instagram story, Hoover shared that she is on her second-to-last day of radiation with the caption, "I wish I could blame my hair and facial expressions on @texas.oncology, but they’ve been great. Hope you never need them, but highly recommend them." The author first shared her diagnosis in a Facebook post, but she didn’t share which type of cancer it is.

Hoover had taken a step back from promotion for her latest book adaptation, Regretting You, and cancelled an event with Lukas Gage with an Instagram post captioned, "I’m super bummned, but am having an unavoidable surgery and can’t travel for a while."

On January 9, Hoover shared a post on Facebook going into detail about her recent diagnosis:

"I got results back today from the geneticist that say my cancer did not come from family genes. It also didn’t come from the two main causes of the cancer, which are HPV and excessive hormones. This means it was more than likely environmental/lifestyle, which is lack of exercise, poor diet, and stress.

I’m happy and grateful to be alive, but I hate vegetables. I hate when I have to get off the couch. I hate sweating. I hate when science is right. If you see me at the gym, don’t even tell me good job. If you see me at a restaurant eating grilled chicken and drinking water, I’m probably real mad about it."

Regretting You, starring Mckenna Grace, Mason Thames, and Dave Franco, didn’t receive great critical reviews and only reached 28% on Rotten Tomatoes. However, the YA adaptation brought back impressive numbers at the worldwide box office with over $90 million. Her previous adaptation, It Ends With Us, despite the recent controversy, was a lot more successful and grossed over $351 million at the worldwide box office.

Hoover is set to release a new novel titled Woman Down on January 13, and following her success with the Regretting You adaptation, it will be no shock if another adaptation is on the horizon following the upcoming Verity movie starring Anne Hathaway, Dakota Johnson, and Josh Hartnett, set to release on October 2, 2026.
