The Broadway production of Tracy Letts‘ Bug starring Carrie Coon and Namir Smallwood – which opened last night right on schedule after the previous day’s missed performances due to an illness in the company – has been extended for an additional two weeks, the Manhattan Theatre Club announced today.
Originally scheduled to play through Sunday, February 8, at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre, the production will now play through Sunday, February 22.
Recent box office figures indicate Bug is selling well, and reviews were overwhelmingly positive [the final night of preview and critics performances on Wednesday was canceled due to an illness in the company; Deadline will review the play as re-scheduling permits].
The Broadway production of Bug comes to Broadway following its critically-acclaimed 2021 run at Chicago’s Steppenwolf Theatre. Written by Letts (August: Osage County) and starring his wife Coon (The White Lotus, The Gilded Age), the psychological thriller is directed by Tony Award winner David Cromer (Prayer for the French Republic, The Band’s Visit).
Coon costars with Smallwood (Broadway’s Pass Over, TV’s American Rust) along with Randall Arney, Jennifer Engstrom and Steve Key.
MTC’s Bug is produced in association with Steppenwolf Theatre Company.
