Buffalo 8 has acquired the North American distribution rights to “The Raven,” a gothic horror thriller adaptation of Edgar Allan Poe‘s narrative poems “The Raven” and “Annabel Lee.”

The film is set in a dark and shadowy 1940s-inspired world, following a grieving man’s descent into madness mere hours after burying his beloved Annabel Lee. The appearance of a mysterious raven causes him to be tormented by guilt, supernatural encounters and the fragile boundary between life and death.

Directed and written by Emmy Award winner Gregori J. Martin (“The Bay”), “The Raven” is a reunion for Martin and multi–Emmy Award–winning actor Kristos Andrews (“Survive the Game” and “Breakout”), who collaborated on “The Bay” and the animated feature film, “Saurus City.” (2025)

Set to star along with Andrews are Emmy Award–winner Mike Manning (“This Is Us” and “Beyond the Gates”), Rae Dawn Chong (“The Color Purple”), and Tony Todd (“Candyman” and “The Rock”). “The Raven” marks Todd’s final performance, following the prolific actor’s passing in November 2024.

“From a young age I’ve been a fan of classic horror films and the writings of Edgar Allan Poe,” said Martin in a statement via Instagram. “For our film “The Raven,” we took the romance and tragedy from Poe’s classic poems ‘Annabelle Lee,’ ‘The Raven’ and ‘Lenore’ and expanded the universal themes of Poe’s works for a 2025 audience…”

“The Raven” will be available for pre-order beginning Jan. 2, 2026, on Fandango at Home, followed by an on-demand release on Jan. 16, 2026, in the U.S. across Amazon, Fandango at Home, Verizon Fios, Hoopla, and major cable platforms, with additional territories and platforms to follow.
