Aqara has announced the Spatial Multi-Sensor FP400, a new presence sensor that it says is precise enough to suss out whether you’re sitting, standing, or lying down. The FP400 builds on several past presence-sensing pucks and could be the most exciting yet for anyone who really wants to Star Trek up their home.
In a media briefing during CES 2026, Aqara representatives talked about using the posture-sensing capabilities of the FP400 to trigger automations, such as one reminding you to get up and move if you’ve been sitting too long. It can also detect and track up to 10 people at a time, and like past Aqara presence sensors, supports setting up zones.
The zone-setting is one of the key features enabled by mmWave—basically, if you want a light to turn on when you enter the room, you can do that, but you can also set it to turn on your TV and dim the lights when you sit on your couch.
Finally, the FP400 supports both Thread and Zigbee connections, is Matter-compatible, and can be mounted on walls or ceilings. Aqara says it can also be used as a way to detect whether an object has moved.
© AqaraAqara also announced the Multi-State Sensor P100, a small, squarish sensor that, when stuck to a door, window, or sliding glass door, can notify you when it detects motion.
