Even though 2025 has been an excellent year for gaming as a whole, there were more than a few controversial titles that divided public opinion in more ways than one. Despite having received plenty of significant updates since launch to add even more content, Monster Hunter Wilds is one RPG that stood out from the rest for being either beloved or hated by its massive playerbase.

With the latest Monster Hunter Wilds update, fans of its tense combat were treated to a performance change that finally delivered on what players have been demanding since it released. Even if the update has been long overdue for WIlds, players like Archaeus20 on Reddit were quick to notice that Monster Hunter Wilds's Steam reviews are finally turning around as a result, which might finally break out of its mixed score.

Monster Hunter Wilds' Latest Patch Is Game-Changing

From GPU and CPU optimization, less intensive RAM requirements, and plenty of settings that offer more control over how Monster Hunter Wilds runs as a whole, the latest patch after Wilds' fourth title update has been met with a wave of positive reception since it dropped, drastically outweighing its negative reviews for the first time since launch.

To make things even more exciting, Capcom isn't even finished with its optimization improvements just yet, with another update scheduled to release this February. While part of the performance improvements came from the infamous DLC-checking bug that was first spotted by a fan a few weeks prior, Wilds received a plethora of additional tweaks that make it well worth checking out if you've been waiting for a chance to hop back into the game.

Wilds' Might Finally Achieve A Positive Review Score On Steam

Even if it takes some time before Monster Hunter Wilds is able to offset the large number of negative reviews it's received over the past year, it wouldn't be too surprising to see its recent Steam reviews finally jump from Mixed to Mostly Positive.

Although Monster Hunter Wilds has made several attempts at turning around its overwhelming amount of negative reviews in the past, being able to run one of 2025's most demanding titles at a staple 30 fps on the Steam Deck to make it "finally playable" on the system is by far the biggest step forward we've seen yet.

Given that the significant performance issues held back countless players from experiencing one of the best RPGs of 2025, it's great to see Capcom finally managing to get Monster Hunter Wilds back on track before the release of its inevitable DLC expansion.
