10 years ago, Alan Ritchson was known as Thad from Blue Mountain State, but now he’s one of the biggest action stars in the world. This is largely due to his role in Reacher, the hit Prime Video series that’s aired three full seasons and has more on the way. Reacher follows a former military operative (Ritchson) as he gets into the kinds of sticky situations only his particular set of skills can resolve. All three seasons of the show are streaming on Prime Video, and ahead of the 2026 premiere of Season 4, the show is once again trending in the global top 10.
Ritchson also made a name for himself in the 2023 blockbuster, Fast X, which even stars Vin Diesel and Jason Statham. He’s broadened his horizons with other projects like Ordinary Angels, which co-stars Hilary Swank, but it’s the action genre that he’s found the most success. Two years ago, Ritchson starred in his first Guy Ritchie movie, The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, with Henry Cavill. The WWII action blockbuster underperformed at the box office, but it’s been a streaming goliath for more than a year now since its debut on Starz.
Ritchson isn’t the first person to try to step into the shoes of the famous character created by Lee Child, but fans are hopeful he’ll be the last. Tom Cruise played Jack Reacher twice in two movies in 2012 and 2016, and while fans criticized the films for being unfaithful to the source material, Cruise still defends what they were trying to do to this day.
Could ‘Reacher’ Turn Into a Movie Again Someday?
Prime Video has yet to announce any plans to bring Alan Ritchson’s gargantuan action hero to the big screen, but it wouldn’t be the first time a TV show wrapped up with a movie. In just a few months, Star Wars will bring The Mandalorian and Grogu to theaters, which started as a Disney+ series all the way back in 2019. Reacher is certainly popular enough to warrant a feature film, though it seems more likely that Prime Video would likely release the film straight to streaming rather than putting it in theaters.
Be sure to check out the first three seasons of Reacher on Prime Video and stay tuned to Collider for more updates and coverage of Season 4.
