Adam Sandler's career began over 30 years ago, and he has appeared as well as created iconic movies with equally iconic characters, but the Hollywood icon is far from done with his career.

Sandler received the Career Achievement Award at AARP’s Movies for Grownups Awards and opened up about aging as well as plans for his future. The buzz for his latest movie, Jay Kelly, has everyone asking whether or not Sandler would want to continue making movies or even act at all, but the actor wanted to ensure his plans were heard:

"I don’t know how much time I have left — 60, 70 years. 80 tops, maybe 90 if I start working out and taking creatine. I promise to everyone here tonight, I will make at least 50 more movies before I am dead — and at least 25 of them will be good."

The actor has appeared in over 60 films since beginning his career on the long-running comedy series Saturday Night Live, which spanned five years. He then transitioned into acting in successful Hollywood movies, including Billy Madison, Big Daddy, and The Wedding Singer, which helped establish Sandler as one of the greatest comedic actors.

Sandler founded Happy Madison Productions in 1999 and is known for producing many of his most popular movies, such as Happy Gilmore, Anger Management, and 50 First Dates. Sandler has now established himself in Hollywood as more than a comedic actor, earning critical acclaim for his dramatic performances in titles such as Uncut Gems and Punch-Drunk Love.

The Hollywood icon recently reprised his role in the sequel Happy Gilmore 2 and is currently filming Roommates alongside Natasha Lyonne and Nick Kroll. His most recent role as Ron Sukenick in Jay Kelly, alongside George Clooney, has left many critics divided, with some praising the movie while others pointing out its flaws. It currently has a Rotten Tomatoes rating of 77%.

It’s unclear what kind of movies Sandler hopes to create, and if 50 is the goal, then this certainly won’t be the last we see of the actor. His impactful career and memorable characters have paved the way for future comedic actors and movies, as reflected in the Career Achievement Award he received, with many agreeing that Sandler’s role in Hollywood has been a vital one.
