ABC’s Most Popular Procedural Will Have Its “Biggest” Guest Stars in the Second Half of Season 2

Britta DeVore is a Senior Author for Collider who has been known to dabble with Reality News as well.

Have you seen stories about 'Chucky,' 'Scream,' 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer,' 'The Boys,' 'Vanderpump Rules,' or any of 'The Real Housewives' franchises? That's probably a Britta DeVore-curated piece of art, and it sounds like you have great taste.

When she isn't sitting behind her laptop bringing readers her hot takes on upcoming projects or keeping the dream alive in the Senior News team, Britta can usually be found outside hiking or inside behind her drum set. She currently plays in two bands, Kid Midnight and Watergate, both based in Brooklyn. An obsessive traveler, Britta loves long road trips to the South West and has a soft spot in her heart for canyons, rivers, and forests.

She also has a tiny cat named Athena that she loves more than anything else in the world and is always happy for new brewery recs.

Of all the popular procedurals out there right now, High Potential is giving the stacked competition a run for its money. ABC’s breakaway hit smashed expectations and built a devoted following of viewers during its first season, even jumping across networks to beat out other favorites like Tracker and 9-1-1 for the most-watched title in the 2025 season. Now, after taking its well-deserved midseason break, the series has returned to screens everywhere, and audiences are tagging along with the perhaps too smart for her own good Morgan Gillory (Kaitlin Olson) and her peers at the LAPD. Over the last 20 episodes, we’ve seen some exciting guests come in for recurring roles like Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s Aiden Turner and Raising Hope’s Garret Dillahunt, but the title’s showrunner promises that, when it comes to guest stars, we ain’t seen nothing yet.

During a recent interview, showrunner Todd Harthan teased, “I think we have some of our biggest and most exciting guest stars coming in the back half, and we’ve already had some incredible ones and we’ve got more coming. It’s been sort of an embarrassment of riches as it relates to the talent that we’re getting to come in and play with us.” As if the show’s success wasn’t enough to bring notable games to the set for a playdate, its insanely stacked cast should do the trick.

For starters, there’s Olson, who, prior to High Potential, was likely best known for her role as Sweet Dee Reynolds in FX’s It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. We’d, of course, love to see any member of the gang pop by for a one-off appearance, or maybe even Jean Smart or Hannah Einbinder — Olson’s co-stars from Hacks. Then, there’s Steve Howey, who could easily pull some old pals from Reba’s or even Happy’s Place into the mix, or Judy Reyes with her connections to the Scrubs family. Essentially, the guest star possibilities are endless, and we absolutely can’t wait to see what the creative team has up their sleeves.

The Crossover We’d Love to See

Aside from guest-starring opportunities, there are more than enough popular ABC procedurals to give High Potential a solid crossover. Such a manifestation was put forward over the summer by 9-1-1’s Jennifer Love Hewitt, who admitted she’d love to see the personalities of both titles collide. While nothing is officially in the works, Harthan responded to the I Know What You Did Last Summer alum’s wishes in the fall, telling fans to “never say never.”

High Potential is now streaming on Disney+ and Hulu with new episodes arriving on ABC every Tuesday.
