Rihanna Supports A$AP Rocky at SNL After-Party Following His Musical Guest Debut
A$AP Rocky and Rihanna’s relationship takes work.
When asked how he maintains the spark in his relationship with the Fenty Beauty founder, the “Praise the Lord” rapper revealed that it all comes down to quality time.
“You got to spice it up,” he said during the Jan. 22 episode of The Ebro Show. “You got to still date. You got to still be friends. We roll dice. We play cards.”
But according to A$AP, Riri, 37, doesn’t always play fair.
“Like, she’s a cheater,” he quipped. “We be playing crazy eights.”
And strengthening their bond only makes love stay on the brain.
“I love that girl to death, man,” A$AP, also 37, added. “You know, word. We got to keep the funk going because if not, what are we doing then?”
His comments come after revealing how he and Rihanna—who share kids RZA, 3, Riot, 2, and Rocky, 4 months, together—first became an item. And his mom Renee Black is part of the love story.
“My mother used to say s--t like, ‘I know you like this girl that you with right now,’” A$AP recalled during an appearance on the Jan. 15 episode of Popcast, though he noted he wouldn’t reveal any names. “‘But I want you with Riri.’”
He continued, “I used to be like, ‘Ma why you keep saying that? That girl don’t even want me like that. Like be cool, Ma. Like that’s just my friend. Chill.”
But Renee was going to keep talking that talk, which transformed the couple's relationship from platonic to romantic in 2019.

“‘I’m telling you, she real,’” A$AP (born Rakim Mayers) added. “And mothers know best.”
And from the beginning, the “Sundress” hitmaker and Grammy winner were always aligned.
“It was just like we were on the same page,” A$AP explained. “Born the same year. My dad is from her country. My family, when I go back, I get to see both sides of my family. It’s so many similarities, it’s just funny. We laugh about it a lot.”
And even though the pair was meant to be, their romance started right when it should have.
“I’m thankful that she was put in my life at that time, because I think any time prior to that, I don’t think I was ready for something like that,” he said. “I don’t think she was either.”

"It was harder for me to keep it from my posse, because they're around me, they know my habits," she told E!'s Justin Sylvester. "They're like, 'You don't want something to drink?
