‘1000-lb Sisters' Star Amy Slaton Details "Haunted" Wedding With Husband Brian Lovvorn
Amy Slaton and Brian Lovvorn are so on the same page, it's almost scary.
The phrase "trick or treat" isn't generally considered as momentous as "I do." But for the 1000-lb Sisters star and her beloved, swapping vows on Halloween meant everything.
"My wedding is a dream finally coming true," Amy told People when she married Brian Oct. 31 at the supposedly haunted Talbott Tavern in Bardstown, Ky. "I’m getting my happily ever after!"
Fast-forward two months, and their romance remains the opposite of a horror show, Amy writing in a tribute to her husband on his Dec. 26 birthday, "You are a shining star in my life and I am forever grateful for your unwavering support of my dreams!! And for being a rock that holds everything together!!"
Meanwhile, the eighth season of 1000-lb Sisters premiered Jan. 6 with the couple still in the thick of wedding planning, Brian having proposed just five months after meeting Amy in the mosh pit at a concert in the park in 2024.
But when you know, you know. So, he got down on one knee in the padded room of Henderson Haunts' haunted house and popped the question.
Just as she envisioned.

The avid horror fans' second date included getting matching "Scary Love" tattoos. Then, two weeks into their relationship, he "slipped a green apple Ring Pop on my finger while I was asleep," Amy shared on a May episode of 1000-lb Sisters. "I was shocked at first, and I said yes but only if the real proposal was in a haunted house on Halloween."
He also upped his jewelry game when he popped the question for real, presenting a gothic silver ring featuring two skeleton hands forming a heart.
But it was once Brian hit it off with her sons Gage Deon, 5, and Glenn Allen, 3—their dad is her ex-husband Michael Halterman—that Amy truly knew she had a keeper.
"They just took to him naturally," Amy said on a subsequent episode of 1000-lb Sisters. "He just fit perfectly in our family. He fits perfectly in the life I've always wanted."
Brian also, incidentally, cleaned and organized her house when he and his footwear collection moved in, Amy quipping, "Boy's got more shoes than Paris Hilton."
She even credited her and Brian's 2024 arrest at a Tennessee zoo and subsequent plea deal for further cementing their bond.

"I messed up, I'm here to fix it," Amy noted in the season premiere. But, she added, "I think it's made our relationship stronger, because we're both dealing with it. So, I guess in a way, I can thank the damn camel after all."
After Amy alleged she was bitten by a camel during a September 2024 visit to Tennessee Safari Park with Brian and her children, authorities found marijuana and psychedelic mushrooms in the couple's car, resulting in their arrest on suspicion of illegal drug possession and child endangerment.
They each pleaded guilty last December to two counts of simple possession and agreed to the same terms. Per the Crockett County Circuit Court Clerk, they were required to complete a drug and alcohol assessment and parenting classes, pay $1,000 in fines and maintain zero contact with Tennessee Safari Park.
"I can't wait till all this legal stuff is over with and we can just live our lives," Amy said on the Jan. 6 episode as she and Brian drove to meet their wedding planner. He agreed, "It'd be good not having to go back to Tennessee."
And both of them were excited to start plotting their trip to the altar. (Though it's unclear if they believe that even death can part them, considering.)
Their planner was admittedly thrown by the couple's request for haunted nuptials, including "ghost bridesmaids," but she quickly got on board, noting, "I'm always up for a challenge."
Alas, the couple's dream venue, the Waverly Hills Sanatorium in Louisville, Ky., was booked, so an inn with a spooky pedigree had to do.

Less impressed was Tammy Slaton, who had already been feuding with her younger sister, and the rift between them only widened in the months leading up to Amy's wedding.
"She really felt like we were rushing it," Amy noted on their TLC show last May, referring to Tammy's reaction to her and Brian's engagement. But the aspiring artist informed the wedding planner that she wasn't sure if any of her four siblings—sisters Tammy, Misty and Amanda, and brother Chris—would attend.
"They're religious," Amy explained, "and got a lot of problems about the haunted part. So, they told me they wanted nothing to do with it."

When the planner expressed concern that perhaps Amy would regret not having her family present, Brian added defiantly, "I mean, it's our day, it ain't their day. So if we want a haunted wedding, we're going to have a haunted wedding."
Amy said she was hoping to resolve her issues with Tammy and the others before her big day. And Tammy did end up making it, though the bride's friend Ollisha "Lee Lee" Davis served as Amy's maid of honor.
But the two most important people at the wedding were, of course, the bride and groom. As Brian put it when he proposed to Amy, "It's scary how compatible we are."
